This poem means to me that we, as Canadians, aren’t the stereotypes the world thinks of us to be “we're more than just hockey and fishing lines off of the rocky coast of the Maritimes.”And provides the world with trates that we are proud to be known by, but also setting stereotypes straight in a way that doesn’t make us sound like we are above the rest of the world. “We are the brightness of Chinatown and the laughter of Little Italy” the use of metaphors like this in the poem, even though people might not recognize it’s a metaphor until they actually read the words. It not only gives us a tarte of Canada, but an experience of people who live here that enjoy. Now, listening and reading have two completely different impacts on how I interpreted the poem. Listening you got to hear the enthusiasm of the poet, but reading it the words actually sank in. It gave me a better understanding of the poem. This poem, “We are More” should become Canada’s national poem, because it really tells you why we should be proud of what we are and what we've accomplished in our short time of being a country.
